Helen Crowther
Artist Information
Based in Cape Town, Western Cape(South Africa) and Bellingham, Northumberland (UK)
Helen's artistic journey began after she retired from a career in finance and attended classes in Jewellery Manufacture and Design at the Ruth Prowse School of Art in Cape Town. Some years later and finding herself with no jewellery studio to work in, she picked up a paintbrush and discovered a hidden talent for painting. Her chosen medium is watercolour, with some exploration of acrylics.
Her portfolio is vibrant and diverse and she has a keen interest in the natural world. Her artworks often illustrate wildlife and florals, with an occasional architectural study or a whimsical character that reflects her sense of mischief and fun. Her pieces are delicately detailed with expressive brush strokes and whether playful or serious, her art is infused with a sense of curiosity. Through her art, Helen invites the viewer to pause and connect with the world around them, to take time to pause and notice.
Helen spends her time between Cape Town, South Africa and Hexham, Northumberland, UK.
